Use equipment intended for outside
Outdoor steps need an assessment for a model designed for that environment. An indoor chair lift should not be treated as outdoor equipment because the steps are partly sheltered. Ask for the exact model's operating limits, care instructions and cover arrangements.
The doorway is part of the journey
Show how you approach the chair and move from it into the home. Discuss door swing, landing space and where the chair parks. If the route is shared, establish permissions and suitable access before an order. Suitability must be assessed for the actual site.
Ask who prepares and maintains the location
Have the seller identify any electrical or other site work needed and who arranges it. Discuss how the surrounding route will be kept clear and how the cover is used. Request the servicing schedule and which upkeep tasks are your responsibility.
Compare an installed plan, not only a chair
Price the rail route, seating options, fitting, site preparation and ongoing support together. Ask who services the outdoor model at your address. A product photograph or national advertisement does not establish local stock, weather suitability or a guaranteed installation date.

- A plan for approach, landing space and doorway access.
- Cover, charging, operating limits and maintenance instructions.
- Itemized fitting and site work, plus a named service business.
